Join us for One Stone's Learning Lab Site Visit on October 29, with an optional event on October 30!
One Stone is a learner-centered program that now serves 125 young people through its independent high school in Boise, ID. It began as a project-based after-school program for local teens. Young people realized they wished school was more like One Stone, where they could explore their passions and make a difference. This led to the creation of Lab51, a full-time high school. Today, One Stone continues to grow, offering professional development and consulting services to sites across the country.
During this site visit, you will have an opportunity to:
Meet their young people, educators, leadership team, and partners
Observe learners engaging in work that matters to them
Learn about their overall model and competency framework
(Optional) Join a Peeps on the Street event, an opportunity for young people to present and get feedback on projects from community partners on October 30
Furthermore, we will experience One Stone’s unique expression of learner-centered education; increase our insight into sophisticated learner-centered model design, and the difference it makes for learners, educators, and the community; exchange insights and deepen relationships with leaders who share a worldview and commitment; and become present to the national movement and this environment’s place and contribution to it.
On October 29, we'll have a full-day site visit at One Stone, followed by a group debrief to discuss our observations on learner-centered education. Afterward, we'll come together for dinner as a community. We ask that visitors stay this full day, flying in on October 28 and flying out on October 30.
On October 30, there is an optional opportunity to join One Stone’s Peeps on the Street that ends at 12:30pm MT. Peeps on the Street is a half-day experience where learner teams gain feedback for the projects from community partners. There is no additional cost to join this optional event. Those who don't join are welcome to leave anytime!
